Well justified fears that the 2026 edition of the Commonwealth Games would not take place, after the originally announced host - Australia's Victoria state - declared its inability to do so, can now be put to rest.

The Commonwealth Games Federation asserted Monday that it aimed to announce a new host for its 2026 event next month, stating that following the April meeting of its executive board, the CGF is "considering multiple proposals" from potential hosts.

LONDON: The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) executive board has approved a 24-hour change in start date for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games which will now begin on 28 July 2022, running through to 8 August 2022. The joint announcement from the CGF and Birmingham 2022 Organising Committee comes after the significant impact to the international sporting calendar caused by COVID-19.

LONDON: The Commonwealth Games Federation has approved a plan for a Commonwealth Archery and Shooting Championships to be held in Chandigarh in January 2022. It comes after neither sport was approved as an optional addition to the programme of the next Commonwealth Games, which is scheduled to take place from 27 July to 7 August 2022 in Birmingham, Great Britain.

NEW DELHI: India’s proposal to host the additional shooting and archery events for the 2022 Commonwealth Games has been endorsed by the British House of Lords after an extensive debate, PTI reports. Last month, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) had submitted a formal proposal to host a shooting championship, where the medals won would be counted in the tally of the Games.

LONDON: The Commonwealth Games Federation on Monday poured cold water on speculation doing the rounds that a Commonwealth Championship of shooting will be held in India during the 2022 Birmingham Games.   Talk of a CWG shooting championship had surfaced as a compromise solution to make up for the sport's axing from the multi-sport showpiece.
