The 48th General Assembly of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations, which convened Tuesday in Birmingham, United Kingdom, excluded the International Boxing Association (IBA) as an ASOIF Member. 

The move follows the April 2 decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, dismissing IBA’s appeal against the International Olympic Committee's decision to withdraw IBA’s recognition as the International Federation (IF) for Olympic boxing. Previously, ASOIF had already suspended IBA’s full member’s rights.

BHOPAL: The Centre, which last month gave in-principle approval to the Madhya Pradesh state government to host the Khelo India Games of 2022 in Bhopal, has reportedly issued a formal notification to that effect.  Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju will reportedly visit the Madhya Pradesh capital next month to make the formal announcement alongside state chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

LAUSANNE: The International Boxing Association (AIBA) has faulted the decision of the International Olympic Committee's Boxing Taskforce to cancel the world qualifying tournament and to postpone the European qualifiers, arguing that the plan to instead allocate quotas based on rankings was "fair and democratic only in theory".

NEW DELHI: Karnataka will be the host state of the second Khelo India University Games (KIUG), scheduled to be held later this year. The announcement was made on Sunday by the state's chief minister BS Yediyurappa and Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju. The games will be held in Bengaluru's Jain University and other venues in the state, in partnership with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
