Hero Indian Super League

Newly crowned Hero Indian Super League (ISL) champions ATK Mohun Bagan FC will be renamed as Mohun Bagan Super Giants from the 2023-24 season. 

Club owner Sanjeev Goenka made the announcement after The Mariners beat Bengaluru FC in a penalty shootout in the final at the Fatorda Stadium on Saturday to clinch their maiden ISL title.

“We were waiting on the cards. We were waiting for the [ISL final] win to announce it,” Goenka announced after the historic win.

NEW DELHI: The Hero Indian Super League will introduce relegation and promotion from the 2024-25 season, and leading up to that, the Hero I-League winners will get “direct slots” in the ISL in 2022 and 2023. This has been “agreed upon by all stakeholders”, All India Football Federation general secretary Kushal Das told PTI on Saturday.

MUMBAI: The prevalant talk that East Bengal, in the wake of getting on board a controlling investor in Shree Cement, would be joining the Hero Indian Super League from the upcoming season itself, can be taken as good as confirmed now. ISL organisers Football Sports Development Limited have invited bids from 'interested parties' to add a team in the upcoming ISL season.

The odds on favorite from the outset will stage the seventh edition of the Hero Indian Super League behind closed doors across three venues, ISL promoter Football Sports Development Ltd (FSDL) announced Sunday.  The 2020-21 season of the ISL will be played at three venues - Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda; GMC Athletic Stadium, Bambolim; and Tilak Maidan Stadium, Vasco.

MUMBAI: Executives from Football Sports Development Ltd (FSDL), which runs the Hero Indian Super League, have reportedly formulated a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the upcoming season, keeping health and safety as the primary factor in deciding all protocols.  IANS, quoting sources, reports that the SOPs have been communicated to all the 10 ISL clubs.
