MUMBAI: MS Dhoni's legend status was further embellished Friday night when he led his franchise Chennai Super Kings to their fourth Indian Premier League title in Dubai.

The latest milestone added to Dhoni's amazing IPL record brought front and centre the surmise making the rounds that with two new franchises (presumably with cash to burn at their respective disposals) making their debuts next season, big monies will be chasing the BIG GUNS of Indian cricket, as too international cricket.

MUMBAI: With the second half of VIVO IPL 2021 underway, host broadcaster Star Sports has so far garnered 380* million viewers until match #35, 12* million higher than IPL 2020 at the same stage.  The TV viewer aggregation is in fact higher than the last three editions of the tournament, going back to 2018, as per data from ratings agency BARC Indian provided by the sportscaster.

THE 'CRICKET LOVING' TALIBAN announced Monday that radio and television channels in Afghanistan will NOT broadcast the ongoing Vivo Indian Premier League. Reason: Due to "possible anti-islam content". And what does said anti-Islam content constitute? Apparently, the possibility of dancing girls and women with uncovered hair in attendance at IPL games.

MUMBAI: The second phase of the Indian Premier League 2021, scheduled to begin from September 19 in the United Arab Emirates, could witness the return of the crowds. Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) general secretary Mubashir Usmani was quoted as saying by Gulf News that the board will speak to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the UAE government regarding allowing crowds back to the stands.

NEW DELHI: Taking UAE's searing September heat in mind, the BCCI is exploring the option of using the full window of Indian Premier League by pushing the final back to October 15. As already reported, the tournament will start on Sunday, September 19 and while the final was tentatively planned for October 10, the BCCI is now working out the logistics of concluding the IPL on October 15.
