Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games

BIRMINGHAM: The City Council's direct contribution to Birmingham 2022 remains at £184 million ($238 million/€203 million), around 25 per cent of the total cost of the event. 

According to Birmingham Live, however, a freedom of information request showed an additional £34 million ($44 million/€37 million) has been added to the wider planned spending.

LONDON: The orgtanising committe of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham have announced that athletes and team officials will be housed in three ‘campus’ villages at The University of Birmingham, The University of Warwick, and The NEC Hotel Campus, rather than at one "athletes' village".

LONDON: Following an international tender process, sports broadcast production company Sunset+Vine has been appointed as host broadcaster for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. The agreement includes a full-service delivery of every aspect of the Games, including more sports coverage than any previous Commonwealth Games.

LONDON: The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) executive board has approved a 24-hour change in start date for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games which will now begin on 28 July 2022, running through to 8 August 2022. The joint announcement from the CGF and Birmingham 2022 Organising Committee comes after the significant impact to the international sporting calendar caused by COVID-19.
