BENGALURU: The Bengaluru Torpedoes Volleyball Academy in India was officially recognised as a Volleyball Centre of Excellence in the country as the FIVB and Bengaluru Torpedoes signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last week.

Situated within the Padukone Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence, the Bengaluru Torpedoes volleyball academy will serve as a hub for promoting volleyball, further amplifying its development and outreach endeavours.

MUMBAI: Close on the heels of 10 members of the ground staff team at the Wankhede Stadium testing positive for COVID-19, Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik on Monday co0nfirmed that permission has been granted for the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches in the city, but with restrictions.  Malik said that matches will be played behind closed doors and only relays will be allowed.

NEW DELHI: The Union Sports Ministry has dedicated a total of 75 Khelo India Centres (KICs) to the state of Uttar Pradesh across 75 districts. These centres will be entrusted with one sports discipline each as per the proposal of the UP state government. It was also decided that the sports disciplines recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports shall be eligible for Khelo India Centres.

SYDNEY: FIFA has confirmed that the host cities for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand will be announced on Wednesday.  Following an eight-month review process involving each of the 12 candidate host cities and 13 stadiums, FIFA is set to announce which cities will host matches for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
