India-Bangla Test sees date change

MUMBAI: Bangladesh’s one-off Test match against host India, scheduled to be held in Hyderabad, has been delayed by a day.

The game was initially slated for a February 8 start but will now begin a day later, on February 9.

“The Test was originally meant to start on a Wednesday. So we thought it would be better on all fronts if it starts on a Thursday and we could get crowds in for the Test,” a Board of Control for Cricket in India official (are there any left?) told ESPNcricinfo Sunday.

Bangladesh, on what wiill be their maiden bilateral tour of India, are also scheduled to play a three-day warm-up game, starting from February 3.

Bangladesh have toured India many times till date but never for a bilateral series. In their inaugural Test back in 2000, Bangladesh hosted India in Dhaka.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Sunday announced a 30-member squad for the lone Test against India.

The team is currently touring New Zealand and are scheduled to reach Dhaka on January 26.
