NEW DELHI: A two-member team representing football’s world body FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will meet different stakeholders from today to put together a plan for the football season in India. The plan is expected to be given to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) by November.
The team's mandate is to chalk out a roadmap that helps India to have just one national league, as against the Indian Super League and the I-League, which are held currently.
The meetings will start in New Delhi with officials from the AIFF followed by representatives of Bengaluru FC, according to a Hindustan Times report.
The two member delegation, comprising Alex Phillips (who has been deputed to the AFC from UEFA), and FIFA consultant Nic Coward, has sought separate meetings with clubs, state associations, the AIFF and its commercial partners. No meeting with the Sports Authority of India has been scheduled, the report says.
