DFB Cup final in its 68th year significantly enhanced for fans and commercial partners

Berlin, Germany / Zug, Switzerland, 20 May 2011 - The Berlin Olympic Stadium again takes center stage for German football this weekend when FC Schalke 04 and MSV Duisburg come head to head to establish the  68th DFB Cup winner. Together with the German Football Association (DFB), Infront Sports & Media ensures that the finals will be a seasonal highlight not only for fans, but also for commercial partners.  The state-of-the-art LED board advertising system in the stadium as well as the expanded DFB Fan Village allow for the most effective connection with the fans. Also, for the first time, Infront Hospitality Management will provide around 3,000 VIP guests on site with premier catering and culinary delights.

DFB Fan Village – interaction between brands and fans
The newly extended DFB Fan Village opens its doors seven hours ahead of  kick off (at 8pm) starting the football party in the Olympic square. The DFB Fan Village, which has been further enhanced since last year, offers all-day entertainment for fans as well as comprehensive opportunities for interaction between sponsors and visitors. The four TOP partners of the DFB Cup (Bitburger, Deutsche Post, Jack Wolfskin and Continental) as well as other selected sponsors will offer activities, games and sports competitions targeted at football fans of all ages. Amongst others, activities include a robokeeper (Deutsche Post), a street court (McDonald's), a driving test course (Continental) and a photo session (adidas). The radio station RTL 104.6 Berlin and SKY TV will also deliver an entertainment program including DJs.

LED-boards in the DFB Cup Final
Year on year, the DFB and Infront are continuously developing and optimizing the DFB Cup platform. This season, in order to provide partners with the latest technologies and increased flexibility, new LED boards for all games broadcast live on TV channels ARD and ZDF have been introduced as well as eye-catching behind-the-goal advertising boards. Each of these new features is also being implemented throughout the final.

Stephan Herth, Infront's Executive Director Summer Sport, said: “As marketing partner to the DFB for the DFB Cup our approach is to enhance the experience for the fans and to improve and develop the platform every year. The four TOP partners value the high level of exclusivity and the consistent, year-round communication platform that the competition offers. The fact that the DFB has appointed Infront Hospitality – the experts in catering major sports events – also illustrates the growing importance of the DFB Cup for networking and relations with business customers.”

Infront Hospitality – culinary delights and a 180 meter buffet
For the final, Infront Hospitality Management – the joint venture between Infront Sports & Media and the international caterer Kofler & Kompanie AG – will spoil VIPs, special guests, commercial partners and finalists with a selection of high-end cuisine. The company – a renowned catering and hospitality specialist in sports – has a proven track record from many major events including: the FIFA World Cup 2010™, the annual IIHF World Championship in ice hockey and the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup Finals 2011 in Lenzerheide.

For the DFB Cup final this Saturday approximately 3,000 guests will be delighted with their innovative German cuisine – including excellent meat specialties from the Berlin region and great coastal fish dishes. Also, specifically designed for the final there will be a 180 meter long buffet with almost 300 specially trained Infront Hospitality chefs and waiters on hand to ensure the highest standards of service.
