IOC TOP sponsor Samsung has announced new agreements to support competitions for three of the Olympics' newest sports in the lead-up to the Paris 2024 Games.

The collaboration will see Samsung work alongside the World Surf League (WSL), Street League Skateboarding (SLS) and Pro Breaking Tour (PBT) to celebrate the sports of surfing, skateboarding and breaking — and their communities — on the Road to Paris 2024 and beyond.

MUMBAI: As India gears up to host the International Olympic Committee (IOC) session after 40 years and amidst talk of Indian interest in hosting a future edition of the Olympic Games, the Mumbai-based Film Heritage Foundation (FHF) and Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland have joined hands to present ‘Olympics in Reel Life - A Festival of Films and Photographs’.

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) on Tuesday withdrew hosting rights of the Olympic qualifiers from Pakistan, citing governance issues of the country's national federation. Pakistan was scheduled to host the Olympic hockey qualifiers in January.  Pakistan has not hosted international hockey in over two decades and the FIH decision means that the long wait will continue.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is following up on its human rights commitments and has announced its plans to amend the Olympic Charter accordingly.  The IOC executive board has submitted a change in the Olympic Charter to the 141st IOC Session, which will meet next month in Mumbai.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has replaced all four deputy chefs de mission for the Hangzhou Asian Games appointed by the previous dispensation led by Narinder Batra. However, Wushu Association of India chief Bhupender Singh Bajwa, who was appointed chef de mission for the Games in January 2022 by Batra, has been retained, PTI reports.

Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has reiterated that India is "looking at" bidding for the Olympic Games in 2036. In a recent interaction with The Hindu, Thakur said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is "keen on" sports. "Sports is an area the PM is very keen on," said Thakur to the daily.
