NEW DELHI: The Archery Association of India has secured government recognition, eight years after it was withdrawn for the AAI's failure to conduct elections in accordance with the National Sports Development Code, PTI reports.

The much-delayed elections of the AAI were held in January this year with Union Minister Arjun Munda's panel securing full majority.

NEW DELHI: The Archery Association of India (AAI) has pulled out its team from the upcoming Asia Cup world ranking tournament in Bangkok scheduled from March 8 to 15 owing to the coronavirus threat there, ANI reports. This would have been India's first international competition since their return from a five-month suspension in January which was lifted after the AAI's election.

LAUSANNE: World Archery has conditionally lifted the suspension of the Archery Association of India following elections in New Delhi on 18 January. The decision was made by executive board postal vote. Indian archers are allowed to compete in World Archery events as of Thursday 23 January.

LAUSANNE: World Archery has suspended the Archery Association of India effective Monday 5 August 2019. A previous executive board decision gave a deadline of the end of July for the election situation to be resolved. No resolution has been reached. Indian athletes will be permitted to compete in the 2019 World Archery Youth Championships in Madrid, Spain on 19-25 August.

KOLKATA: After all the bluster and bombast by rival factions of the Archery Association of India that held two separate elections despite warnings not to do so, the sport's global governing body has delivered its verdict - World Archery has delisted AAI.   AAI has been given a month’s dadline within which to either get its house in order or face suspension.

KOLKATA: A 15-member executive board of World Archery, headed by president Ugur Erdener, will vote whether to suspend Archery Association of India or not after evaluating the reports submitted by the two parallel elected bodies of the AAI. The WA executive board meets at Den Bosch, the Netherlands, on Friday on the sidelines of the World Championships to decide this.

NEW DELHI: Former Jharkhand chief minister and newly-inducted minister in the Narendra Modi government, Arjun Munda, is reportedly likely to be unanimously elected as president of the de-recognised Archery Association of India. "I have completed the process (of filing nomination) and now look forward to the elections," Munda, who was entrusted with the tribal welfare ministry portfolio, told PTI on Friday.
