MUMBAI: Budweiser, an Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) global brand, Wednesday released a docu-series titled “The Indian Football Story: The World is Yours To Take” in collaboration with VICE Media. 

The three-part series pays homage to the rich history of football in India. Dissecting the journey of the sport in the Indian landscape, the documentary is an attempt at telling the untold story of India’s tryst with the World Cup in 1950. Historically, Budweiser has always supported homegrown talent at the grassroots and energized its consumers to seize opportunities.

NEW DELHI: In an outcome that was pre-ordained, the All India Football Federation on Friday elected BJP politician Kalyan Chaubey as president, the first former player to head the AIFF in its 85-year history.  Chaubey, who played as a goalkeeper, won 33-1 in a straight contest against the legendary Bhaichung Bhutia.

GANGTOK: A floodlit, 15,000-capacity stadium in Sikkim, to be named after Indian football great Bhaichung Bhutia, will be inaugurated once the COVID-19 pandemic subsides.  The stadium is in Namchi, which is 25 kilometres away from the 'Sikkimese Sniper's' birthplace in Tinkitam, in the district of South Sikkim.

KOLKATA: Former Indian football captain Bhaichung Bhutia has raised his hand up to run the Beautiful Game in the country as and when All India Football Federation president Praful Patel decides to "hang up his boots".   The 43-year-old has begun working towards it by joining the Sikkim football association, but admits there's a lot more to running the game in India than just football acumen.

NEW DELHI: Former Indian football captain Bhaichung Bhutia launched his own political party “Hamro Sikkim” here Thursday, which will be based out of his native state.  The Indian football legend, who made his entry into politics as a candidate for West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress, was quoted by PTI as having said that he “felt like an outsider” in the party.

Apart from his stellar achievements on the field, he is the brains behind the football training program - The Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools - which was inaugurated in 2010 in the capital.  Now the academy has launched its first ever residential school in the campus of the Vedas International School in Greater Gurgaon.
