LONDON: TNT Sports will be the new name for the premium sports brand to be launched later this year by the joint venture (JV) between BT Group and Warner Bros. Discovery.

The new name heralds an important step in the previously announced plans to unite BT Sport and Eurosport under a single brand in the future. 

TNT Sports will replace the BT Sport name in July, shortly before the start of 2023/2024 football season.

MUMBAI: The Indian Premier League will switching back to Sky Sports in the UK for the next three seasons after the (now) Comcast-owned satellite broadcaster sealed an exclusive agreement with (now) Disney-owned global media rights holder Star Sports. In 2019, BT Sport had secured the IPL rights with a last-ditch pitch. The tournament was also available online via Hotstar - the streaming app run by Star India.

LONDON: British media company BT may have lost out on the broadcast rights of the English Premier League but will create history by showcasing a live sports event in 5G using remote production through its telecom subsidiary, EE. Through remote production at their base in Stratford (East London), BT Sport will use this approach to increase the coverage available to viewers with more matches and faster highlights.

LONDON: BT Sport has lost the live TV rights to Serie A matches in the UK and Ireland after Eleven Sports secured an exclusive three-year deal, starting with the upcoming 2018/19 season.  Owned by the Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani, Eleven Sports also gained the rights to Spain's La Liga from Sky in May and intends to launch two new channels, BBC reports.

LONDON: Amazon has made its biggest move yet in the sports broadcast arena, after securing one of two final Premier League rights packages. The e-commerce giant thus becomes the third player after Sky and BT to have a boot in EPL's UK rights. This also means that Amazon is the first streaming-only platform to show the Premier League in the UK.
