MUMBAI: It really appears that the men who matter at East Bengal are getting increasingly desperate and pulling at ever stranger straws in the wind. 

The latest embarrassment (which SportzPower is convinced had the blessings of the club's "brains trust") is a letter addressed to All India Football Federation (AIFF) general secretary Kushal Das, which is also marked to Hero Indian Super League organisers Football Sports Development Ltd (FSDL), by the general manager of the Football Players Association of India, Cyrus Confectioner.

MUMBAI: Even as the Bengali sports media fraternity continue to talk up East Bengal FC's next-to-nonexistent chances of being a part of the Indian Super League in the upcoming season, Football Sports Development Limited, which runs the ISL, has made clear in a meeting with club representatives over the weekend that FSDL would be sticking to just 10 teams and would not be floating tenders for new outfits.

According to Bengali sports portal Xtra Time, Manchester United are likely to play the Red and Gold brigades during their pre-season tour to Asia.
