NEW DELHI: At a time when Covid restrictions are being eased in India comes the news that the $2 million Hero Indian Open 2022, which was to be held at the DLF Golf & Country Club in Gurugram, has been cancelled for a third year running. 

For the record, the government on Thursday revised guidelines for international arrivals, removing the category of 'at risk' countries - introduced when the Omicron Covid variant emerged - and also recommending self-monitoring of 14 days for symptoms as against the current seven days of home quarantine.

NEW DELHI: The surging Omicron variant of COVID-19 has led to a rash of golf tournaments being postponed across the country.  For the Indian Golf Union (IGU) however, its focus is on successfully staging the upcoming $2 million Hero Indian Open, scheduled by the DP World Tour to run from February 24-27 at DLF GC, Gurgaon.

The main point on the agenda is completing the election process which could not be completed at the previous AGM in December 2018, following a court order, reports New Indian Express.

NEW DELHI: Keeping the health and safety of everyone as top most priority in view of the current situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Indian Golf Union, the national body for golf in India, Friday announced the cancellation of the Hero Indian Open 2020. The decision was made following consultation with the sanctioning partner, the European Tour.

NEW DELHI: The Union Sports Ministry has granted provisional recognition to the national governing bodies of golf, school games and rowing, following a review of its earlier decision. The development has come to light after the ministry filed an affidavit in the Delhi High court, PTI reports.

What else can explain the Sports Ministry's decision, for the FIFTH TIME, to extend the deadline given to the Indian Golf Union (IGU) to be compliant with the National Sports Code, or face de-recognition.
