NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday said the practice of granting provisional recognition to National Sports Federations (NSFs) in the country without ascertaining whether they are following the Sports Code cannot be allowed to go on.

"We won't allow the provisional system to go on without the NSFs following the Sports Code. That is not going to happen. Ask the NSFs to put their house in order," PTI quotes the Bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Najmi Waziri as having said.

NEW DELHI: The Union Sports Ministry on Tuesday filed an application in the Delhi High Court seeking the court's consent to restore the recognition to 54 national sports federations (NSFs).  Apart from the 54 NFs, the ministry has also requested for the restoration of recognition of the Indian Golf Union (IGU), the School Games Federation of India and the Rowing Federation of India.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday stayed the decision of the Union Sports Ministry to provisionally renew the annual recognition of 54 National Sports Federations (NSF) and directed it to "maintain status quo ante".

NEW DELHI: The total expenditure incurred by the Union Sports Ministry under different schemes for promotion of sports, including for women athletes in 2019 (till October) was Rs 8.95 billion, out of which Rs 3.2 billion was incurred for Khelo India, Rs 3.285 billion for Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Rs 2.45 billion for National Sports Federations.

NEW DELHI: The Union Sports Ministry has decided to allow national and state sports federations, leagues and clubs to organise sports events in all sporting facilities owned by the government, free of cost in order to further the Fit India Movement and to make playfields and sporting infrastructure accessible, without fee, to all sports persons across the country from 1st November.

NEW DELHI: A week after the Equestrian Federation of India sent a letter to the Sports Ministry, asking to be exempt from certain provisions of the National Sports Code, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday reiterated in the Lok Sabha (Lower House of Parliament) that all national sports federations (NSFs) will have to adhere to the code.

NEW DELHI: Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore revealed during a Rajya Sabha meet on Monday that the Indian government had increased its funding to the Sports Authority of India (SAI) during the financial year of 2016-17.
