KOLKATA: Shree Cement Limited on Tuesday officially ended their two-year "troubled from the get-go" association with East Bengal, handing back the sporting rights of the ISL wooden spooners to the club's executive committee.

Shree Cement is the second corporate after Bengaluru-based Quess Corp forced to cut their losses and exit after falling afoul of the shenanigans of the EB's "old guard", which is run by Debabrata (Nitu) Sarkar.

MUMBAI: Here we go again. Indications to that effect have been "blowin in the wind" for a while now, but what is currently playing out for SC East Bengal's new investors Shree Cement appears to be a rewind of what happened with Quess Corp, the club's earlier investor for two seasons.

KOLKATA: Hero I-League club East Bengal FC on Friday received the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from its previous investor Quess Corp, thereby clearing the way for the Kolkata giants to submit the necessary documents to participate in the upcoming season's Hero I-League. The NOC also allows the club to bring new investors on board.

MUMBAI: Quess East Bengal on Sunday kick-started their centenary celebrations with a torch rally at Kumartuli Park in North Kolkata, a place where the club came into existence for the first time in August 1920. Former India skipper Bhaichung Bhutia and Sukumar Samajpati, who captained the club in the early 60s, lit the torch to start the gala celebration.

BENGALURU: Quess Corp Limited, the leading business services provider that recently took a controlling 70% stake in East Bengal FC for Rs 100 million, has appointed Sanjit Sen as chief executive of the storied football club.  The appointment comes after the recent investor agreement between EBFC & Quess Corp to form the new entity, Quess East Bengal FC (QEBFC).
