MUMBAI: The Star India network, which owns a majority stake in Mashal Sports, commercial rights holder of the Pro Kabaddi League, has, as expected, retained the media rights to the PKL for the next five seasons.

Mashal Sports announced at the weekend that it had successfully concluded its PKL media rights auction for five Seasons (Season 8 to Season 12) to be held during 2021-2025. 

Though Star was the only entity that put in a bid, it bears noting that the rights were offered through an open tender process.

MUMBAI: Serial entrepreneur and film producer Ronnie Screwvala has announced that his RSVP Movies, along with Blue Monkey Films, will bring the story of hockey legend Dhyan Chand to the big screen.  Screwvala is collaborating with Abhishek Chaubey as director and Premnath Rajagopalan as co-producer for the biopic, which goes on the floors in 2021 and is slated to hit theatres in 2022.

MUMBAI: U Mumba, the franchise owned by U Sports, which is helmed by Ronnie Screwvala and Supratik Sen, have got six sponsors and three partners on board for the upcoming Season 7 of the Pro Kabaddi League that starts on July 20. While a few brands have been associated with U Mumba in prior seasons as well, a few new ones have deals across all the sport franchises under U Sports.

HYDERABAD: Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza has confirmed that a biopic will be made on her by Ronnie Screwvala, one of the top producers in the Hindi film industry. The first phase of the project has already begun following her signing the contract for the film.

With 206 million gamers, 10 million serious gamers and 300 million e-sports fans across the world, the e-sports segment has grown over the years.
