NEW DELHI: Earlier this year, as the COVID-19 pandemic gripped the world, countless frontline workers risked their lives for the sake of others, with their selfless efforts. As a small token of gratitude, Delhi Capitals, through its digital initiative "Salaam Dilli", recognised the contribution of some frontline workers from Delhi NCR.

Inspired and humbled by the efforts of these courageous citizens, the Delhi Capitals official match jersey will bear the "Thank You COVID Warriors" message for the entire duration of this season.

ZURICH: World football's governing body FIFA estimates that the negative impact of the disruption wreaked by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 to be around $14 billion.     “The estimated impact of the disruption was around $14 billion,” Olli Rehn, who chairs the FIFA COVID-19 Relief Plan Steering Committee and who acts as FIFA Governance Committee deputy chairman, has stated.

As already confirmed by his team, one of the individuals is Moto2 rider Jorge Martin (Red Bull KTM Ajo). There has also been one positive result returned for a mechanic from a different team.

LAUSANNE: The postponed Tokyo Olympic Games will go ahead next year "with or without COVID", the vice-president of the International Olympic Committee has asserted. John Coates confirmed to news agency AFP that the Olympics would start on 23 July next year, calling them the "Games that conquered COVID". They were originally scheduled to start in July 2020, but were postponed due to Covid-19 fears.

NEW DELHI: A member of the Delhi Capitals camp has tested positive for COVID-19. A statement from the franchise identified him as an assistant physiotherapist who returned two negative tests after his arrival in the UAE before returning a positive result on his third test. "He was yet to meet with, and had not been in contact with any players or staff of the franchise," the statement said.
