CHENNAI SUPER CHAMPS, the city’s World Pickleball League (WPBL) franchise, has launched six state-of-the-art indoor pickleball courts in partnership with Sathyabama University. The facility will serve as the venue for the inaugural Chennai Open, scheduled from 13–16 November.
Organised by Chennai Super Champs in collaboration with WPBL, the first edition aims to spark a community movement around the rapidly growing sport and position Chennai as a key destination for pickleball. With a prize pool of Rs 25 lakh, the tournament will also provide young talent an opportunity to break through and earn a pathway to the upcoming WPBL season.
Set against the backdrop of Chennai’s thriving sporting ecosystem, the Chennai Open will bring four days of competitive action, engaging fan experiences and celebrations that blend high-performance sport with community participation. Players, enthusiasts, families and first-timers are expected to gather for what organisers describe as a festival of pickleball in the city.

* Skill Levels: Intermediate (DUPR 3.0+), Advanced (DUPR 4.0+), Pro (DUPR 5.0+)
* Age Brackets: Under 14, Under 18, Open, 35+ & 50+
* Categories: Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles & Mixed Doubles
Registrations are currently open on the WPBL website and will close on 6 November.
