NEW DELHI: The most powerful cricket body in the world has yet again been forced to eat humble pie after falling at the wrong end of the stick on the legal front. Needless to say, it is a seriously expensive pie. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly ready to cough up compensation of over Rs8 billion to IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala for terminating its contract in 2011, a massive mark-up on the Rs3 billion the team's promoters were initially willing to settle for.

MUMBAI: Famed yoga expert 'Baba' Ramdev-promoted Patanjali Ayurved's spokesperson SK Tijarawala has confirmed the firm was "considering" a bid for the title sponsorship of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL).  The slot for title sponsorship of IPL is now open after Chinese smartphone maker Vivo exited the deal, most definitely for this year, and in all probability, permanently.

DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the Men’s T20 World Cup 2020, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will now be held in Australia in 2022. India will host the T20 World Cup 2021 as planned. The Women’s Cricket World Cup 2021 in New Zealand has been postponed until February – March 2022 because of the impact the pandemic has had on cricket globally.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Premier League (IPL) has received the Indian government's in-principle permission to conduct its 13th edition in the UAE, sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed to ANI on Friday. However, the official document is yet to be received by the board. The BCCI is hoping to receive the final approval in the coming days.
