ACTOR-ENTREPRENEUR Samantha Ruth Prabhu and global sports icon David Beckham created a memorable moment during his recent visit to India with a thoughtful jersey exchange.
While in Mumbai, Beckham sat down for an engaging conversation with Samantha, discussing football, the causes he champions, and more. Ahead of their meeting, Samantha recorded a video from her car, expressing her excitement and describing Beckham as “truly aspirational.”
Samantha, who owns the Chennai Super Champs franchise in the World Pickleball League, presented Beckham with a personalised team jersey featuring the No. 7, a number synonymous with his football career, a media release said.
In return, Beckham gifted her an Inter Miami CF jersey. He is the club’s co-owner and president, and it is also the current home of football star Lionel Messi.
Beckham too shared several videos and photos on Instagram, offering a glimpse of the warm welcome he received in Mumbai during his visit as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
During his time in the city, he also played a friendly match with children from underserved communities supported by the Oscar Foundation, listening to their stories, challenges, and ambitions as they pursue their goals through football and life-skills training at the Cooperage Football Ground.
Before arriving in Mumbai, Beckham visited Visakhapatnam, where he spent time with students and teachers at a school.
