Global athletes gear up for Ironman 70.3 Goa on 9 Nov

IRONMAN 70.3 Goa, India returns on 9 November, international triathletes are setting their sights on the coastal state, not only for the challenge, but for the vibrant atmosphere that surrounds it.

Across its five editions, the race has attracted participants from 62 countries, and this year’s field continues that trend. Among the global entrants are Hong Kong–based Indian-origin athlete Atul Dutt and South Korea’s Jongjin Lim, both embodying the spirit of resilience and ambition synonymous with IRONMAN events, a media release said.

Dutt, who has lived in Hong Kong for nearly two decades and competed across Asia in Vietnam, Taiwan and the Philippines, sees the Goa race as a personal milestone. “I’ve completed five 70.3 races across Asia, but coming back to Goa feels personal. I wanted to race in my home country, wear my Indian colors, and be part of something that puts India on the triathlon map. Goa already enjoys a global reputation as a world-class travel destination, and I’m sure the event will match that energy with great hotels, scenic routes, and an enthusiastic crowd,” he said.

For Lim, who has lived in India for six years, the event marks his first IRONMAN 70.3. After recovering from an ACL injury and overcoming COVID-19, he views the race as a celebration of perseverance and gratitude. “For me, triathlon is not about speed; it is about endurance, mindset, and never giving up. Every race reminds me how precious life is. I’m excited that my first IRONMAN 70.3 will be in Goa. Everyone tells me it’s beautiful, and I can’t wait to experience it with my wife,” he said.

These athletes highlight Goa’s rising appeal as a global triathlon destination, a place where elite sport meets culture, coastal beauty and warm hospitality. With its scenic course and family-friendly setting, the event offers athletes and supporters an unforgettable blend of achievement and leisure.

IRONMAN INDIA country head Deepak Raj shared, “It’s inspiring to see athletes from around the world choosing Goa as their race destination. Over the past five editions, we have welcomed participants from 62 countries and that diversity has become the heart of this event. IRONMAN 70.3 GOA, INDIA isn’t just about endurance, it’s about the shared energy, camaraderie, and joy that make Goa such a special place for triathletes and their families.”
