CHENNAI: New I-League entrant Chennai City FC has announced a strategic partnership with global lifestyle brand Baako, that will see the team be rebranded as 'Baako CCFC'.
"CCFC is a budding team in the I-League and has stood for fair and sporty approach to every game it plays. The team resonates with what our brand stands for," said Koh Soon Feng, one of the promoters of Baako range of global premium lifestyle products at a press conference here.Baako has bought stakes in the club and will be a part of all Chennai City's ventures going forward.
"The partnership will allow the club to grow growing forward", Chennai City team owner Rohit Ramesh told The Hindu.
Ramesh also revealed plans for building a football academy in the state while also asserting that the club will promote local talents.
"We will be starting a Baako CCFC academy in Erode soon after the l-League season gets over. That will hopefully be followed by five-six academies in other districts. We are here to provide a platform for Tamil Nadu players."
Chennai City FC are currently ninth in the I-League table, with just a point from four games.
