MUMBAI: Indian public brodcast authority Prasar Bharati is keen to revive live radio commentary of home cricket matches on All India Radio, a practice that had been discontinued for some years.
Prasar Bharati is currently in talks with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the international (bilateral) games as well as key domestic and Indian Premier League games, according to a Mumbai Mirror report.
Differences between the public broadcaster and the BCCI had led to discontinuation of live radio commentary in the last few years. The report says a meeting was held between the BCCI and Prasar Bharati officials here last week to discuss the issue.
AIR has a monopoly on the airing of live commentary since private radio stations in India are not allowed to transmit either live commentary or news bulletins.
