MUMBAI: Swimming Federation of India CEO Virendra Nanavati has been appointed vice chairman of the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) swimming committee.
Nanavati is also senior vice president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
"It is a matter of pride for me as an Indian would carry such a big responsibility in FINA," Nanavati told PTI.
Nanavati was appointed to the role at the Technical Swimming Congress of the aquatic sport's world governing body, which took place in Budapest in Hungary on 21 July during the 17th FINA World Championship.
“Nanavati has been honoured by the FINA for his dedication and commitment to swimming”, FINA president Julio Maglione had commented at the time.
