Dhoni to be face of cricket academy in Dubai

DUBAI: Two years after he launched a cricket academy in Bokaro in his home state Jharkhand, former India skipper MS Dhoni is set to launch another academy here.

Dhoni has teamed up with Pacific Sports Club (PSC) to launch the ‘MS Dhoni Cricket Academy (MSDCA)’ which will develop and launch training camps to groom professional athletes. PSC will have exclusive rights to MSDCA, not just in the UAE but other nations in the GCC, South Africa and the UK, reports say.

Dhoni will be the brand ambassador for the academy and will be available at the academy during his frequent visits to the emirate. The academy will be based in Springdales School, Al Khail.

Parvez Khan, promoter of Pacific Ventures and owner of PSC, said: “While others offer just the facilities side of things, we will offer that at a high-level plus coaching and training as well as a strategic sports development programmes managed by some of our well-known and beloved sports personalities."

Back in India, Dhoni's Arca Foundation Trust that signed an agreement with Delhi Public School, Bokaro, has been running the academy for the last two years.  Earlier this month, there were reports that Dhoni has also signed on as batting coach and mentor for an upcoming residential cricket academy, launched by former Bengal cricketer Subhomoy Das, in Barasat in North 24 Parganas.
