Hockey India to advertise for new coach

NEW DELHI: Hockey India, the governing body of field hockey in India, plans to place advertisements for a new coach on its portal as well as the website of the Sports Authority of India.

HI is seeking a new head coach to replace  Roeland Oltmans, who was sacked by the governing body last weekend.

The entire process could take between two to three months and an interim arrangement will be put in place to guide the senior hockey team before the new head coach takes over, according to a Times of India report.

While the process of recruiting a new coach through an online advertisement is likely to take longer, HI says it will pick up only three applicants who will be interviewed by a panel of hockey experts along with Sports Authority of India (SAI) and government officials.
