NEW DELHI: The 2018 edition of Hero Challenge, a night-golf event that precedes the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, will for the first-time be telecast live in India.
The Hero Challenge will take place from 12:00 am to 1:00 am on Wednesday July 11 and will be broadcast live across India on DSport, apart from European Tour’s platforms.
A strong line-up of six marquee golfers that include Rafa Cabrera Bello, Andrew Johnston and India’s rising star Shubhankar Sharma, will vie for top honors at the Hero Challenge.
Since the inaugural Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open was hosted at the British Masters in 2016, the contest has become very popular with players and spectators alike.
After the successful debut for the night-golf event in 2016, Hero MotoCorp - the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters - reaffirmed its commitment to innovation on the European Tour by extending the Hero Challenge by another three years and to three marquee events – the British Masters, Scottish Open and DP World Tour Championship, Dubai.
However, this will be first time that fans in India will be able to watch live telecast of the event.
In 2018 the drama of the night golf contest will be increased further as a series of iconic city locations perform hosting duties, starting at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo’s amphitheatre in front of Edinburgh Castle - a key part of the Edinburgh World Heritage Site.
The six players will battle it out in the unique "undercard" contest on the castle esplanade in the centre of Scotland’s capital city, just two days before they take to the links at Gullane Golf Club to compete in the Scottish Open from July 12-15.
It is worth noting that the rights for the Scottish Open, a European Tour event, are with Sony Ten Golf.
