IPL 2020 players auction in Kolkata on Dec 19

NEW DELHI: The Indian Premier League (IPL) players auction for 2020 will be held in Kolkata for the first time, reportedly on December 19.

The trading window that is currently open will close on November 14, and all the franchises were informed about it on Monday, according to ESPNCricinfo.

The auctions are traditionally held in Bengaluru, but the last time it was held in Jaipur on December 18. This time too it would be a small auction with franchises allotted Rs 850 million to build their sides for the tournament. The franchises also have an additional Rs 30 million in addition to the balance from the last auction, The Hindu reports.

Delhi Capitals have the biggest balance - Rs 82 million, followed by Rajasthan Royals at Rs 71.5 million and Kolkata Knight Riders at Rs 60.5 million, PTI reports.

This year's auction is the last one before the franchises disband next year and prepare to assemble fresh squads from 2021 at a mega auction.

Chennai Super Kings - Rs 32 million, Delhi Capitals - Rs 77 million, Kings XI Punjab - Rs 37 million, Kolkata Knight Riders - Rs 60.5 million, Mumbai Indians - Rs 35.5 million, Rajasthan Royals - Rs 71.5 million, Royal Challengers Bangalore - Rs 18 million, Sunrisers Hyderabad - Rs 53 million.
