MUMBAI: The upcoming Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 Final on Saturday, March 14, between ATK FC and Chennaiyin FC, will now be played behind closed doors at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda.

ISL organiser Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) has decided to hold the season’s final behind closed doors owing to the current preventive measures against COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

This follows a directive from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to the Indian Olympic Association (IOC), Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and all other recognised sports bodies, including the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

The ministry guidelines, issued to all National Sports Federations (NSF), among others, state: “You are advised to adhere to the advisories issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and ensure that no public gathering takes place in any sporting event. In the event the sporting event cannot be avoided, the same could be done without allowing the gathering of people, including spectators.”

The final will be live telecast on Star Sports, Hotstar and Jio TV.

FSDL will soon initiate the process of ticket refunds and an announcement will be made through Hero ISL channels.
