2018 FIFA World Cup Russia

MOSCOW: Budweiser, an official sponsor of the 2018 FIFA World Cup™, has hit the back of the net by launching a unique football pitch created from its recycled plastic cups in Sochi, Russia. More than 50,000 cups collected at arenas and at the FIFA Fan Fests after the summer tournament have been used to create a new sports facility, the Budweiser ReCup Arena.   

Over 3.2 million Budweiser Red Light Cups were used during the recent FIFA World Cup™, many of which fans took home as souvenirs.

MOSCOW: Russia’s capital city played host to the FIFA World Cup 2018’s inaugural fan fest on Monday.  According to the local organisers, around 25,000 turned up for the fest, boasting 20 well known live music acts in the presence of former World Cup winner from France Marcel Desailly and Russia’s all-time top scorer Aleksandr Kerzhakov.

MUMBAI: Its prediction on how the 2014 World Cup in Brazil would turn out (as like most of the footballing world, its choice was the host nation) was off target. Goldman Sachs Research is giving it another shot at using an "eccentric mix" (their term) of economic insight, tenuous correlations and footballing views to determine the country that will take home the most coveted trophy in world team sport.

MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Network (India), host broadcaster in the Indian subcontinent for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Russia, has sent out take down notices to illicit streaming sites warning of legal action if they decide to stream matches from the tournament. Streaming sites are a major problem for Sony and others as they are often removed but they also return in hours or days.

BEIJING: With less than a week to go for the World Cup in Russia, FIFA has announced two new sponsorship deals signed with Chinese companies Diking and Luci. Diking is known in China as a leading brand in men’s business attire. Courtesy this sponsorship, the firm will gain a variety of rights such as brand association rights in Asia, LED board exposure during FIFA World Cup events and access to tickets.

MUMBAI: This year’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia will add $2.4 billion to the global advertising market, according to new research by Zenith. This will be the net amount of money added to the market, taking into account both the extra money spent by advertisers seeking to reach World Cup audiences, and any reductions in spending by advertisers that wish to avoid this competitive period.
