KUALA LUMPUR: The YONEX-SUNRISE India Open Super 500 and Hyderabad Open Super 100 tournaments were among nine major tournaments cancelled by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Monday, which announced a revamped international calender to salvage the remaining season affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The $400,000 India Open, which was supposed to be one of the qualifiers for the Tokyo Olympics, was scheduled to be held from May 11 to 16 but was postponed in April due to rising COVID cases in the national capital.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Badminton World Federation (BWF) confirmed Friday that no further tournaments will be played inside the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualifying window. As such, while the qualification period officially closes 15 June as per the Revised Tokyo 2020 Qualification System, the current Race To Tokyo rankings list will not change.

KUALA LUMPUR: Two Super 100 badminton tournaments – the Russian Open 2021 and Indonesia Masters 2021 Super 100 – have been cancelled due to the global upsurge in COVID-19 related restrictions, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) said on Monday. "The ongoing COVID-19 restrictions and complications left local organisers no choice but to cancel the tournaments," a BWF statement reads.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Badminton World Federation (BWF), in full consultation and agreement with local host Badminton Denmark, has made the tough decision to postpone the TOTAL BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2020 in Aarhus, Denmark. NEW DELHI: The inaugural Hyderabad Open badminton tournament, scheduled to be held in August, was on Thursday cancelled by the sport’s world governing body in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, two weeks after the unveiling of a revised calendar.
