NEW DELHI: The Badminton Association of India (BAI) has written to the Badminton World Federation (BWF), expressing its interest to host the Sudirman Cup finals this year.

India was scheduled to host the mixed team championship in 2023, but the BWF awarded the rights to Suzhou, China, while giving the 2026 World Championships to India.

Suzhou was due to host the championships in 2021 but, due to the COVID-19 situation in China, the BWF was not able to stage any tournaments in the country and the event was shifted to Vantaa in Finland.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has confirmed the decision to postpone the CIPUTRA HANOI – YONEX SUNRISE Vietnam International Challenge 2020 until 2-7 June, due to continued concerns over the Covid-19 outbreak. The decision was made on the advice of the Vietnam Sports Administration linked to health protection restrictions in place in Vietnam.

KUALA LUMPUR: Badminton World Federation (BWF) has approved the use of synthetic feather shuttlecocks at BWF International sanctioned tournaments of all levels from 2021. Following this decision, BWF has made it possible for shuttlecock manufacturers to seek approval under the BWF Equipment Approval scheme for versions of their synthetic feather shuttlecocks to be used in international competitions.

BANGKOK: The Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced on Saturday that there will be no changes in the 3×21 (three games to 21 points) scoring system during any authorized match. The BWF Council’s proposal to change to five games to 11 points did not receive the required two-thirds majority during voting at the BWF’s annual general meeting in the Thai capital.

NEW DELHI: The Badminton World Federation (BWF) will formally propose a suite of changes, including around the scoring system and on-court coaching, "to enhance the sport" at its annual general meeting in Bangkok, Thailand on 19 May.  The formal proposals will be circulated to the membership on 30 March together with all other proposals received by 23 February.
