NEW DELHI: Indian pugilists bagged nine medals including three Gold, two Silver and four Bronze at the Cologne Boxing World Cup that concluded in Cologne, Germany on Saturday. 

World Silver-medallist Amit Panghal won Gold in the men's 52kg category while Manisha Moun and Simranjit Kaur won Gold in Women's category, PTI reports.

In the women's category, AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships Bronze medallist Simranjit Kaur Baath beat the local German opponent Maya Kleinhans in the final, taking the Gold in the 60kg category.

MUMBAI: WBO Super Middleweight Asia Pacific champion Vijender Singh says he will soon launch his own company - Vijender Singh Promotions. The new outfit will sign young promising talent on for pro-boxing. "They will train at my academy. If all goes well, pro-boxing will spread further in India," Singh told Outlook magazine.

MOSCOW: The International Boxing Association (AIBA) has announced that India will host its first Women’s World Championships in 2018 and the Men’s World Championship (also for the first time) in 2021. New Delhi will be the host venue for both events. The announcement was made Monday after a two-day AIBA executive committee meeting in Moscow.
