Barbados Royals launch CPL 2022 playing kits through 3D avatars

BARBADOS: Ahead of the return of the Caribbean Premier League in ten days time, Royals Sports Group-owned franchise Barbados Royals Tuesday unveiled their official playing kits. 

The two-time CPL champions have revealed metaverse-ready 3D avatars of five of its players – captains David Miller & Hayley Matthews, along with West Indian stars Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers and Shakera Selman - sporting their respective men’s and women’s CPL jerseys.

CPL asserts consolidated viewership up 56% in 2019
NEW DELHI: The Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw another increase in viewership numbers during the 2019 season as the T20 league continues to grow in stature and reputation.  Total viewership, combining broadcast and digital, was 312 million – an increase of 56% from 2018. Viewership for the tournament has increased every season over the event’s seven-year history.

Karthik apologises for BCCI clause violation in TKR matter
NEW DELHI: Dinesh Karthik, captain of IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has tendered an “unconditional apology” for violating BCCI’s Central clause by watching a Caribbean Premier League game from the Shah Rukh Khan co-owned Trinbago Knight Riders’ dressing room. Khan also co-owns KKR, which probably explains why Karthik was togged out in TKR colours and in the player area of the CPL team.

Hero extends CPL title sponsorship until 2022 season
NEW DELHI: Hero MotorCorp Limited has extended their title sponsorship of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for another three years. The extension of the partnership means Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, will continue their title sponsorship of the Hero Caribbean Premier League until the 2022 season.

CPL retains rum brand El Dorado as top sponsor
ANTIGUA: The Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has announced that it has extended its partnership with one of the Caribbean region’s top rum brands, El Dorado till 2022. Their earlier deal began from the tournament’s first season back in 2013 and expired the previous season.

Dubai businessman eyes stake in IPL franchise
MUMBAI: Dubai businessman Ajay Sethi, who this week bought the Port Elizabeth franchise in Cricket South Africa's upcoming T20 Global League, has expressed an interest in buying into an Indian Premier League team. Speaking to Arabian Business, Channel2 Corporation Group chairman Sethi revealed he is looking at buying a stake in one of the IPL teams.
