NEW DELHI: The Sports Authority of India (SAI) on Thursday suspended four of its officials, who were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) last week on corruption charges, pending an enquiry, Press Trust of India reports.

The SAI officials alleged to be involved in corruption were its director Sanjeev Sharma, upper division clerk VK Sharma, junior accounts officer Harinder Prasad and dealing hand Lalit Jolly.

"In accordance with the Central Services Recruitment rules, these four alleged officials have been suspended with immediate effect pending inquiry.

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Thursday arrested six Sports Authority of India (SAI) officials including its director Sanjay Kumar Sharma under the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act. A CBI official told IANS that it had received information about SAI officials in the transport department accepting bribes worth Rs 57000 to clear bills worth Rs 1.9 million.

SRINAGAR: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday filed a chargesheet against National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah and three others for alleged misappropriation of funds at the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association.  According to the CBI chargesheet, huge amounts of money were transferred from the bank accounts of the JKCA into those of its office bearers and other unconnected individuals.
