Commonwealth Games 2018

NEW DELHI: The Haryana government has promised cash awards for athletes hailing from the state who won medals at the just concluded Commonwealth Games 2018 in Gold Coast, Australia. 

Of the 66 medals that India took home from this edition of the Commonwealth Games, athletes from Haryana won 22, including nine Gold, six Silver and seven Bronze. 

State Sports Minister Anil Vij announced on Sunday that Gold medallists would get cash awards of Rs 15 million, Silver winners Rs 7.5 million and those winning Bronze Rs 5 million.

GOLD COAST: The Indian delegation at the Commonwealth Games have been ordered to appear before the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) medical commission after their boxing contingent were deemed to have committed a "clear" breach of the no-needle policy at Gold Coast 2018, it was announced here Monday.

NEW DELHI: The Sports Ministry on Monday cleared a 325-member Indian contingent, including 221 athletes, for the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast next month, but dropped two contingent staff named by the Indian Olympic Association, PTI reports.

MUMBAI: In the lead-up to the Commonwealth Games 2018, which kicks off in just over a month, India broadcast partner Sony Pictures Sports Network (SPSN) on Monday launched its promotional campaign - 'Rang De Tiranga. Sony has designed a campaign that urges the fans to take notice and cheer on its athletes as they vie to bring home yet another huge tally of medals, an official release states.
