LONDON: Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton has agreed to a renewed 2-year contract with Mercedes.
It is said that he has driven in every Grand Prix race of his in a Mercedes engine since his debut in 2007, having officially been a part of the F1 team since 2013. In the last 7 years, Hamilton has won 3 world championships and 44 races with the team, with no other driver in the sport matching him during this period.
BBC Sport reports that the 33-year-old British driver stands to receive £80 million ($104 million) under the new deal, subject to bonuses.
