NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court Monday issued notice to the Centre on a petition filed by Manika Batra against the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI).

Justice Rekha Palli granted two days to the Central government counsel to take instructions on the petition, which alleges that on one occasion, national coach Soumyadeep Roy pressurized Batra to throw away a match to enable one of his personal trainees to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and seeks that the Union Sports Ministry institute an inquiry into the running of the TTFI.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday declined to entertain a petition moved by a law student (?) upset over what he saw as a “media trial” that disgraced wrestler Sushil Kumar, who has been arrested in a murder case by the Delhi police, was being subjected to. The Division Bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh said the issue can be argued if Kumar himself approaches the court.

NEW DELHI: The Union Sports Ministry on Tuesday filed an application in the Delhi High Court seeking the court's consent to restore the recognition to 54 national sports federations (NSFs).  Apart from the 54 NFs, the ministry has also requested for the restoration of recognition of the Indian Golf Union (IGU), the School Games Federation of India and the Rowing Federation of India.
