NEW DELHI: An empowered steering committee (ESC) has been set up by the Union Sports Ministry, based on the recommendations of the interim report of the Olympic Task Force.
The eight-member task force was set up in September 2016 to prepare a comprehensive action plan for effective participation of Indian sportspersons in the next three Olympic Games to be held in 2020 (Tokyo), 2024 (Paris) and 2028 (Los Angeles).
The Task Force, comprising stalwarts including Abhinav Bindra, Pullela Gopichand and Viren Rasquinha, submitted its report to the Sports Ministry last month.
