The Indian Olympic Association, which has been dragging its feet for more than a year on the International Olympic Committee's demand that it appoint a professional chief executive, will finally re-initiate the hiring process after being called out by the IOC. 

The IOA executive council, which met in Mumbai on Tuesday, decided to issue a new advertisement for the post. The CEO will be an ex-officio member of the IOA executive council without voting rights.

MUMBAI: Nita Ambani, IOC member, has welcomed the newly amended draft constitution of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), terming it as a landmark moment in India’s Olympic dream.  The final draft of the IOA's amended constitution as prepared by retired judge Justice L Nageswara Rao, has laid down some key changes, which can then be formally adopted in its general body meeting on November 10.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday approved a fresh timeline submitted by Justice (retd) LN Rao committee for holding of elections of the executive committee of the Indian Olympic Association, and ruled that the IOA polls will be held on December 10.

NEW DELHI: The International Olympic Committee has proposed changes to the constitution of the suspended Indian Olympic Association that would bring the IOA in consonance with national sports bodies of sporting superpowers.

The International Olympic Committee has agreed to work with the Indian Olympic Association to ensure that the IOA Constitution is amended and elections, scheduled for December, are held in "accordance with the Olympic Charter".  IOA representatives met with the IOC at its headquarters in Lausanne where both parties agreed to "address and resolve the governance issues affecting" the India's Olympic body.

LAUSANNE: The Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee Thursday issued a final warning to the Indian Olympic Association to "resolve its governance issues" and hold elections by December, failing which the IOC will ban India.  An immediate fallout of the edict is that the IOC Session, which was due to take place in Mumbai in May 2023, has been postponed to September or October 2023.
