Wimbledon stripped of ranking points over Russia, Belarus ban

LONDON: In a welcome move that upholds the long espoused principle that politics should be kept out of international sport, the ATP, WTA and International Tennis Federation (ITF) late Friday confirmed that this year's Wimbledon Grand Slam has been stripped of ranking points.

Reason: The decision by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), UK's governing body for tennis, following on from Russia's invasion of Ukraine, to ban Russian and Belarusian players from participating in the sport's only grass court Grand Slam.

AITA announces 7 ITF World Tennis Tour events in Nov-Dec
NEW DELHI: The All India Tennis Association (AITA) on Monday announced as many as seven ITF World Tennis Tour events which are scheduled to be held in the country later this year. These ITF World Tennis Tour events carry a total prize money of $125,000 and will be held in November and December to cap off the 2021 calendar for tennis in India.

ITF revises entry ranking date for Tokyo 2020 qualification

Davis Cup World Grp I: Finns host India in Sep; finals multi-city
MADRID: The ITF has confirmed it is considering a series of proposals by event partner Kosmos Tennis to enhance the Davis Cup finals following a thorough review of the inaugural event in 2019.
