Khelo India School Games

NEW DELHI: The scourge of doping has hit the Khelo India School Games with 12 athletes, five of them Gold medalists, having tested positive for banned drugs at the flagship event of the government’s sports development programme. 

The positive tests highlight the rampant doping at the junior level in the country. According to WADA, India has the third highest doping cases in the world, with junior-level meets contributing substantially to the increasing numbers.

NEW DELHI: Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore Sunday launched the Khelo India logo at the Nehru Stadium. The Khelo India School Games will be staged here from January 31. “We crowd-sourced the logo design and we were delighted that many chose the colours of the National flag,” The Hindu quotes Rathore having said. The three-stroke Khelo India logo was designed by Ogilvy India.

NEW DELHI: The Union Sports Ministry on Monday announced Star Sports as the broadcast and production partner for its flagship initiative Khelo India School Games (KISG) for the next five years from 2018 until 2022. Starting from 31st January, these Under-17 annual games will in its first edition have 16 different sports disciplines.
