MUMBAI: Reports late last week that Punit Goenka, managing director and CEO of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd, had flown to Los Angeles to sign off on the proposed merger between Zee and Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN), have gained further heft.

US investment fund Invesco has reportedly cooled off considerably on its objections to the deal as long as one principal condition is met. Which is that the Goenka family does not get any preferential equity (PE) in the merged entity.

MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) will remain host broadcaster for UEFA club competitions for a further three seasons as the network has renewed its long-running media rights contract with Europe's governing body till 2023-24.

COLOMBO: Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) has bagged the rights to broadcast the inaugural edition of the Lankan Premier League (LPL) T20 tournament, set to kick off later this month.  In response to a question raised on Twitter, Sony Pictures Sports Network India (SPSN) confirmed that it will be broadcasting the tournament on its channel, Sri Lanka's Newswire reports.

COLOMBO: After a protracted process, Sri Lanka Cricket has "got real" and eventually struck a deal with Sony Pictures Network India wherein SPN will retain the broadcasting and digital rights (originally held by Ten Sports) for all home international cricket matches played in Sri Lanka for the next three years from 2020.

MUMBAI: Uday Sodhi, executive vice-president and head, digital business, Sony Pictures Network India, is leaving the broadcast network.  Sodhi has been heading Sony’s digital business for the past five years and was responsible for the operations of its video streaming service SonyLIV. He will now pursue entrepreneurial ventures in the start-up space, a statement from the company said.
