MUMBAI: Reports late last week that Punit Goenka, managing director and CEO of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd, had flown to Los Angeles to sign off on the proposed merger between Zee and Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN), have gained further heft.

US investment fund Invesco has reportedly cooled off considerably on its objections to the deal as long as one principal condition is met. Which is that the Goenka family does not get any preferential equity (PE) in the merged entity.

MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) and sports entertainment brand WWE have announced that WWE Superstar Braun Strowman will be making his second trip to India straight from his cage match versus Kevin Owens at the special ‘Extreme Rules’ next weekend.  This special will air live on Sony Ten 1 and Sony Ten 3 channels.

MUMBAI: The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia continues its strong run for football viewership in India in its third week. The tournament that is being telecast live on Sony Ten 2, Sony Ten 3 and Sony ESPN channels and live streamed on SonyLIV app & website, garnered over 153 million viewers across 48 matches played in the first 16 days of the tournament, host broadcaster Sony Pictures Networks India declared.

MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Network (India), host broadcaster in the Indian subcontinent for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Russia, has sent out take down notices to illicit streaming sites warning of legal action if they decide to stream matches from the tournament. Streaming sites are a major problem for Sony and others as they are often removed but they also return in hours or days.

MUMBAI: The Indian cricket board is looking at another massive pay day as the e-auction for BCCI cricket media rights failed to throw up a winner at the "end of day's play" by the allotted 6 pm deadline Tuesday.  At the time the bidding window closed for the day, the bid value in the Global Consolidated Rights category stood at Rs 44.42 billion (Rs 4442 crores, approximately $680 million).
