Sports Ministry gets Rs3397cr allocation in Union Budget

NEW DELHI: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday presented the last big budget before her government returns to the polls in 2024’s general elections, and introduced a slew of measures meant to cater to as wide a spectrum of the voting populace as possible.

Specific to sports, in a year when Indian athletes will compete at the Asian Games and prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Union Sports Ministry has received its highest-ever budget allocation of Rs 3,397.32 crore.

Ministry to name new, upgraded SAI facilities after sportspersons
NEW DELHI: The Union Sports Ministry on Sunday said it has decided to name all the upcoming and upgraded facilities of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) after renowned athletes who have brought accolades for the country. The initiative is meant to honour sporting heroes of the country, SAI stated in a press release.

SAI sanctions Rs9m+ to send wrestling contingent for World Cup
NEW DELHI: The Sports Authority of India (SAI) on Thursday informed that it has sanctioned over Rs 9 million to send a 42-member wrestling contingent for the Individual World Cup scheduled to be held from December 12 to 18 in Belgrade, Serbia.  This includes the costs of air tickets, boarding and lodging, amongst other things.

SAI signs infra devt MoU with Arunachal Pradesh govt
