June 24: US-based investment firm 27th Investments-backed 27th Sports announces its association with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) as the official media and ground rights partner for the AVR Pay Cup three-match T20 International series between India Women and Sri Lanka Women. The series gets underway with the first T20I on Thursday, June 23rd, 2022, 2 PM onwards at Dambulla. Fancode India, in partnership with 27th Sports, will be live streaming the T20 International series for free in the sub-continent.

MUMBAI: Fears are growing that the upcoming Asia Cup, the Asian Cricket Council’s flagship event, will be moved out of Sri Lanka. While it was India’s turn to host the event, upon a request made by Sri Lanka Cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India had agreed for the event to be staged in the Emerald Isles.

COLOMBO: The Asian Cricket Council, at its annual general, has selected Sri Lanka Cricket as host association for the ACC’s marquee tournament - Asia Cup.  ACC president and BCCI secretary Jay Shah chaired the meeting and announced the dates for the tournament, which is set to take place between 27th August and 11th September.

COLOMBO: The organizers of Lanka Premier League and Sri Lanka Cricket, upon recommendation of Sri Lanka's Ministry of Health, have decided to open ticket sales for up to 50% of stadium capacity for the second season of the LPL, which will be held from 5th December through to 23rd December.

COLOMBO: Out before even stepping in. IPG, organisers and commercial rights holders of the Lanka Premier League, and Sri Lanka Cricket on Wednesday informed that 27th Investments, who were previously onboarded as the owner of LPL's Colombo franchhise, has decided to withdraw from the tournament "after the parties were not able to come to a conclusive financial and logistical understanding".

COLOMBO: Online payment solutions provider AstroPay announced Wednesday it is partnering with the Sri Lankan cricket team ahead of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, to be held in the UAE and Oman from October 17th through to November 14th. For AstroPay, this will be the first time the London-headquartered company is sponsoring a cricket team.

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka Cricket has come away smiling after the India "B" team's recent tour of the Emerald Isles, which fattened SLC's coffers $14.5 million (Rs 1.077 billion) to the good. The series was originally slated for just three ODIs as per the original FTP programme. However, the SLC requested the BCCI to add three T20Is into the schedule as well.

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Saturday announced the revised itinerary of India’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, 2021. The decision to revise the itinerary was taken on the basis of health advisory after the Sri Lankan contingent detected two COVID positive cases.

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed Tuesday that the second edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will be held between July 30 and August 22, as earlier announced. The inaugural edition of the LPL, Sri Lanka’s topmost domestic T20 league, with an international flavor, was conducted last year at the MRICS, Hambantota, with the participation of five teams.

COLOMBO: Shammi Silva has been elected uncontested as president of Sri Lanka Cricket for the 2021 to 2023 period, during the SLC's elections held Thursday. The decision was declared by SLC's election committee.  Silva’s election marks his second term in office as SLC president. “I am thankful for the membership for electing me uncontested as the president of Sri Lanka Cricket," said Silva.
