COLOMBO: The organizers of Lanka Premier League and Sri Lanka Cricket, upon recommendation of Sri Lanka's Ministry of Health, have decided to open ticket sales for up to 50% of stadium capacity for the second season of the LPL, which will be held from 5th December through to 23rd December.

The league matches will be hosted at the R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, while the knockouts will be held at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Hambantota.

COLOMBO: Out before even stepping in. IPG, organisers and commercial rights holders of the Lanka Premier League, and Sri Lanka Cricket on Wednesday informed that 27th Investments, who were previously onboarded as the owner of LPL's Colombo franchhise, has decided to withdraw from the tournament "after the parties were not able to come to a conclusive financial and logistical understanding".

COLOMBO: Online payment solutions provider AstroPay announced Wednesday it is partnering with the Sri Lankan cricket team ahead of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, to be held in the UAE and Oman from October 17th through to November 14th. For AstroPay, this will be the first time the London-headquartered company is sponsoring a cricket team.

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka Cricket has come away smiling after the India "B" team's recent tour of the Emerald Isles, which fattened SLC's coffers $14.5 million (Rs 1.077 billion) to the good. The series was originally slated for just three ODIs as per the original FTP programme. However, the SLC requested the BCCI to add three T20Is into the schedule as well.

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Saturday announced the revised itinerary of India’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, 2021. The decision to revise the itinerary was taken on the basis of health advisory after the Sri Lankan contingent detected two COVID positive cases.

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed Tuesday that the second edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will be held between July 30 and August 22, as earlier announced. The inaugural edition of the LPL, Sri Lanka’s topmost domestic T20 league, with an international flavor, was conducted last year at the MRICS, Hambantota, with the participation of five teams.

COLOMBO: Shammi Silva has been elected uncontested as president of Sri Lanka Cricket for the 2021 to 2023 period, during the SLC's elections held Thursday. The decision was declared by SLC's election committee.  Silva’s election marks his second term in office as SLC president. “I am thankful for the membership for electing me uncontested as the president of Sri Lanka Cricket," said Silva.

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka Cricket has confirmed that the 2nd Edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will be held from 30th July to 22nd August. "We have found a suitable window to hold this year’s edition, whilst we are currently working on finalizing the other details of the tournament," said Professor Arjuna De Silva, chairman, management committee of Sri Lanka Cricket.
