NEW DELHI: In an unprecedented action, the Union government has chosen to deny visas to the Pakistani cricket team to travel to India for the T20 World Cup for the Blind. 

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) said that the team could not get clearance from India’s Ministry of External Affairs.

The tournament was slated to begin here Tuesday onwards, but with Pakistan denied participation, it has been delayed while a revised schedule is drawn up.

NEW DELHI: The Union government has allocated more than Rs 32 crore (Rs 320m) to the Paralympic Committee of India during the four year period of 2017-18 to 2021-22, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said in Parliament on Tuesday. In a reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Thakur said the fund was given under the Scheme of Assistance to National Sports Federations.
