The Walt Disney Company

The Walt Disney Company is the latest media and technology sector major to resort to layoffs to "help achieve" cost savings. The House of Mouse is planning to lay off 7,000 employees across the network. 

The layoffs at Disney follow similar moves by US tech giants that have terminated thousands of employees as companies dial back a hiring spurt that began during the height of the pandemic.

MUMBAI: Deepak Jacob, chief Regional Counsel, Direct-to-Consumer & International - India, ME & SEA, The Walt Disney Company, has resigned, just the latest high profile executive to exit the country's leading broadcast network.  News of the development was broken by exchange4media, which further reported that Jacob is currently serving out his notice period, which runs till mid-May.

MUMBAI: Uday Shankar will step down as president, The Walt Disney Company APAC and chairman, Star & Disney India, effective as of December 31, Rebecca Campbell, chairman of Disney’s Direct-to-Consumer & International segment, announced Thursday. Over the next three months, Shankar will work closely with Ms Campbell to identify his successor to ensure a smooth transition.
